Georgia O'Keefe is the most famous female American artist. She is known for her paintings of flowers, landscapes and desert objects near her New Mexico home. She lived a very long life and died at the age of 98 in 1986. In her early career she was a photography model in New York City while also painting. She gained fame for creating beautiful watercolor paintings of flowers. She moved to the desert of New Mexico in 1949 and stayed there till her death painting the landscapes and making clay pottery.
