Leonardo is known for his paintings, but very few of his works still remain because of his experimental painting techniques. The Last Supper was painted with tempera paint made of eggs on a wet plaster wall of a church in Italy. The painting made in 1498 deteriorated over the years and was restored several times. Today The Last Supper can still be seen in the church where it was painted, sealed behind a protective glass wall.
